- Great Swamp Fish and Game is holding
the 3rd Annual Pre-Season Trout Derby
(rain or shine) on Sat., March 15 and Sun., March 16 from 8 AM to 4 PM on both
days. The gate opens at 6 AM. Adults 16 and over: $15 each day and Children
15 and under: $7 each day. Directions: Take Allentown Rd. to Schukraft Rd and
Camp Rockhill Rd. For info and directions, contact Dan Reilly
(610-495-5235). Bait, breakfast and lunch available.
- Sportfishin’ Outlet Annual Flea
Market will take place on Sat., March 22 and Sun.,
March 23 (Easter) from sunrise to 4 PM each day. Located in East Norriton on
Germantown Pike next to 7-11 store. Come on out and haggle!!! Sportfishin’
Outlet is open 24 hr on March 28 for the trout opener.
- The 22nd Annual Stony
Creek Memorial Cleanup in memory of Mary B. Wood will be held on Sat.,
March 22 from 8 AM to 12 noon, rain or shine. Meet at the Fire Chiefs
Memorial in Elmwood Park, Norristown. Gloves and bags are provided. Coffee &
Donut starter plus lunch are served to all volunteers, who must sign a hold
harmless form. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at noon.
- Opening Day of Trout Season
(License and Trout Stamp are necessary) is Sat., March 29, 8 AM in 17
counties only (see No. 7 below). The creek limit for trout is 5 daily.
Stony Creek and Kepner Creek in the Norristown Farm Park are fully stocked and
ready! Don’t litter our streams!
- Trout Unlimited Annual Trout Show
Fund Raiser takes place on Thursday, March 27 from 7
PM to 10 PM. at the Valley Forge Middle School. $2 admission and lots of door
prizes, bucket raffles, new member raffle. Flies for sale. Directions: Take
202 South to Rt. 252 Devon Exit. At traffic light, turn right. School is on
the left about 500 yards from light.
- Norristown History Day – A Look
Back will be held on Sat., April 5 from 12 noon to 4
PM at St. John’s Church on Airy St in Norristown across from the Post Office.
Free to all.
- Opening Day of Trout Season for the
rest of the State (50 counties) west, north and
central is Sat, April 12 starting at 8 AM Creek limit is 5 daily. PA fish
license and trout stamp required.
- 11th Annual Stony Creek
Trout Tournament will be held rain or shine on
Sat., April 26 from 8 AM to 5 PM and on Sun., April 27 from 7 AM to 4 PM.
There will be trophies and raffles. Adults 16 and up: $15 each day. Teens 12
to 16: $10 each day. Children under 12: $5 each day. Breakfast, lunch and
drinks are available. Enter Gate #5 on Stanbridge St.
and follow signs. For tickets and information, call Ray Duff (610-291-1361),

for children 6 years and younger. Bait, lures and tackle available.
