 What’s Happening in the Park

The Farm Park Preservation Association (FPPA) has discussions with the Farm Park Management from time to time to let them know what activities we are planning and to find out what kind of project and/or events the Farm Park has planned.  We will have an article in each newsletter in an attempt to keep the members informed of any planned activities or events of interest that occur between newsletters.

bulletThe Farm Park staff with the assistance of the staff from Greenlane Park recently completed milling the hardwood (about 5000 board feet) that was knocked down during the severe windstorms in 2006.  Ken Shellenberger noted that the hardwood boards and timbers were beautiful.  The wood is currently being air-dried.  The Park tried to sell the large, felled trees but no one made a reasonable offer.

bulletThe Farm Park staff has several project that it is currently trying to bring to closure:

bulletRemoval of metal fencing materials from the former Stony Creek baseball field.  The area will be allowed to return to its natural state.  The earthen retaining wall will not be removed by the staff, but nature will remove it over time.
bulletRemoval of the contents of the boarded-up house at 660 Germantown Pike.
bulletrading of the new service road that encircles the Dairy Barn and removal of the fencing that runs behind the Dairy Barn to the Pavilions.
bulletDemolishing an old silo below the former Getty Barn so it can be sold for scrap.
